Starting and committing to your journey to your epic shit requires a lot of sacrifices.

EP. 95 Is your Love on Auto-Pilot?
Monday Sep 19, 2022
Monday Sep 19, 2022
In a world that keeps preaching on and on about self-love, it’s hard to believe that self-love is not easy. In fact, self-love, much like other forms of love, takes work, time, and patience to cultivate.
We've been sold this bill of goods that says love should come easy and if you have to work for it, then maybe that's not love. Queens, I am calling BS on this. Listen, there's no autopilot for love. Self-love does not happen naturally and we must stop being judgmental and critical of ourselves based on this lie.
So, why is it so hard to love ourselves? Why can’t we just believe the books and the experts that tell us we are so much more than we feel we are? Well, I don’t have all the answers to why practicing self-love is so hard, but I do have some ideas on how you can start to cultivate this practice.
Press play and listen as I share how to learn to trust, accept, and love ourselves.

EP. 94 The Value of Coaching Series with Karen Livingstone
Monday Sep 12, 2022
Monday Sep 12, 2022
As high-achieving women of color, we know what it feels like to walk into a room and be the only one who looked like you. To be asked your opinion on a project that lacks diversity and inclusion. To frequently be asked to participate in conversations where the expectation is that your opinion speaks for all voices from your community. And not be able to talk about specific topics that are important to your culture because no one around you can relate from personal experience.
This is true for our guest today, my coaching client Karen Livingstone. After accepting a promotion to a high-level executive position and being the only person of color on the team, she decided to seek out coaching specifically for her career. However, during the search, she decided to instead get support in a more holistic approach that would not only benefit her career but her life in general.
Listen in to learn how this decision has amplified her confidence, self-trust, positive mindset, and internal safety.

EP. 93 Ready is not a THANG!
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Queen, are you waiting to level up when you feel ready? Are you waiting to solve for everything that can possibly happen before you take the next step?
Listen, ready is not a thang! “Being ready” is a measure of whether we think we will fail or succeed at something, that is all. We can be the most prepped and primed version of ourselves and still not feel “ready” to take that next step. This is because readiness happens in our minds.
Don’t waste any more time waiting to be ready, press play to learn how to feel ready NOW and go after your epic shit.

EP. 92 Paying Full-Price, WAT??
Monday Aug 29, 2022
Monday Aug 29, 2022
Hey guys! Welcome back to the podcast. This is a super quick message because I wanted to get it in its rawest form.
To explain this point I will use the example of a purchase. When it comes to making a purchase, we often get really excited when we are able to get the hook up on that purchase or obtain it from a sale. Notice that in this scenario you experience a dopamine hit. This is because getting the hookup creates a feeling of pleasure and reward, which motivates you to repeat a specific behavior. Here’s the thing, repeating this specific behavior can actually keep us stuck.
So what would happen if we, as a people, normalize spending full price as much as we normalize getting the hookup the deal?
Listen in to learn how normalizing paying full price benefits us and getting the hook up keeps us stuck.

EP. 91 The Hope of Our Wrongness
Monday Aug 22, 2022
Monday Aug 22, 2022
Have you ever felt that when bad things happen, that must mean that you are not a good person, like, karma has come to get you? And so you go on a search to find what is wrong in hopes of fixing it so that everything will be good again.
It’s like there is this hope in our wrongness. And it's not like, you feel wrong or something's wrong with you, it's more like you have a need to identify what that thing is so you can cure it and stop experiencing the discomfort that you have.
I want to dive into this because I think for some of us, this is key. Listen in as I share my theory on this hope in our wrongness and how you can use it for your empowerment.

EP. 90 When Wrong Feels so RIGHT!
Monday Aug 15, 2022
Monday Aug 15, 2022
Most of us know that dopamine is called the seeking hormone, the feel-good hormone but did you know that dopamine can also be called the predictive hormone?
You see, dopamine is released, when the world meets our expectations or exceeds them. This is why in scenarios even if there’s a negative outcome, meaning an outcome that we didn't really want, we still get a splash of dopamine. This is when you’re like, ”I figured that would happen or see, I told you so, I knew this was how the world was.” The dopamine is released because you got what you expected. It reinforces that the world is as you predicted it to be and there's safety in that you know exactly how the world works.
This predictive side of the dopamine hormone is exactly why we often rejoice in things we shouldn’t because it feels so right. The problem is that it supports a story that keeps us at our current level. There is another story that we can receive dopamine from too. It’s the one where you create a different experience, uplevel your life, and do epic sh*t. Listen in to learn how.

EP. 89 Owning our Freedom!
Monday Aug 08, 2022
Monday Aug 08, 2022
How often do we push something to the side when we can’t decide on what to do or what we want, simply because we don’t want to own our decisions?
I invite you to consider where indecision could be showing up in your life and how the things you are pushing aside affect your capacity to move forward. Because Queen, there is a cost associated with indecision, and especially for black women, this cost is crippling.
Yes, we have been conditioned to not own our decisions but the ultimate reason why we don't own our decisions is that we have not owned our freedom. I really want you to understand this. This is key.
So let's talk about indecision, owning our freedom, and why we don't do it.
And if you want to discover the freedom formula and experience ultimate inner peace, I invite you to join me in a two-day masterclass happening on Friday, August 12th and 13th, both at 11 am CST. Go to www.brigjohnson.com/masterclass to register.

EP. 88 The Ultimate Peace for the High Achieving Black Woman
Monday Aug 01, 2022
Monday Aug 01, 2022
Today we are discussing one of the most common topics that my clients present to me during our coaching session. It comes in different variations but what it boils down to is that as high-achieving women we want to do more to reach a level of peace but that level is not attainable because as soon as we think we’ve reached the level, there is yet another mountain that we need to climb.
It’s like society is telling us to just keep working to get this promotion, get this house, make this money, get this degree, get this man. Just do all this and then you'll be happy and you'll find this peace. This is a lie.
There is a certain path to experiencing the ultimate peace that we seek as high-achieving women. Listen in to learn how.
And if you want more support with finding ultimate internal peace, I invite you to join me in a two-day masterclass happening on Friday, August 12th and 13th, both at 11 am CST. Go to www.brigjohnson.com/masterclass to register.
