EP. 129 The DISCOMFORT ZONE: How To Embrace It
Monday May 22, 2023
Monday May 22, 2023
This episode is a call to embrace discomfort.
Most of us embrace comfort and resist anything that may lead to discomfort. This is because we can only embrace what we are not afraid of. Evolutionary wise, we were designed to seek comfort– to seek pleasure and to stay the same. That is our survival mechanism. It's in our DNA, but also, there are specific societal conditioning and cultural factors that reinforce our desire for comfort.
However, when we stay in our comfort zone, we can become unfulfilled and stagnant. So how do you embrace discomfort so that we can grow into our epic sh*t? Listen in to learn how.

Today, I want to talk about something that I think is important for us to understand and that is the difference between our objective, our tactics, and understanding the strategy behind them.
As high-achieving women, we are very clear about our objectives. We know exactly what it is that we want to achieve.
What I want to help us gain clarity around is the tactics that we choose to use to accomplish the objective. It is important for us to know that using tactics without a deeper understanding of the strategy behind them can lead to outcomes that we don't necessarily like. And a lot of times, not only do they not work, but they send us backward.
Listen in as I share how you can select the correct tactic you need to accomplish your objective by identifying the appropriate strategy to execute the tactic.

![EP. 126 Stop Apologizing To You For YOU!](https://pbcdn1.podbean.com/imglogo/image-logo/9980508/Brig_-_The_Optimized_Podcast_Logo_aunue_300x300.jpg)

EP. 126 Stop Apologizing To You For YOU!
Monday Apr 24, 2023
Monday Apr 24, 2023
Apologizing to you for being you is like you have this, “ I'm sorry, I am the way I am” kind of vibe going on.
This may not be something that you do subconsciously or even to other people, but apologizing to you for being you is an internal discourse within you that is keeping you from where you want to be.
Even if you're working on improving yourself, you don't do that through apologizing for who you are, you do that by owning, “This is who I am, and this is where I am”. You don't argue with it, and resist it because you will never get to where you want to be by apologizing and resisting where you are.
Stop apologizing for reactions in your body to things that happen in this world, inside of you and around you. It is meant to be felt. It is meant to be experienced. You have a right to be here. You have a right to be yourself. And you have a right to your feelings. No apologies need it.
I want you to live unapologetically within the confines of your body. Listen in to learn how.

EP. 124 What to do after a F*%k up
Monday Apr 10, 2023
Monday Apr 10, 2023
Continuing our conversation from EP. 121 Bad Things Happen To Good Girls, EP. 122 Redefining GOODT ENUFF, and EP. 123 Suffering and the GOODT Black Women MENTALITY, today we are talking about what to do when you don't get the results you want.
So we’ve been focusing on this good girl mentality and how we have labeled negative things that happen as a problem and identifying that problem as being us, which leads to a false sense that if we were somehow different, this wouldn't have happened. We forget that life is 50/50, good and bad things happen, and we can't control it, and so when the “negative thing” is happening, we think we did something wrong.
But what if you made a mistake? What if you did choose something, and now the consequences are putting you a couple of steps backward on your journey? What do you do after a f*%k up?
Let’s go there and discuss how to move forward.

EP. 123 Suffering and the GOODT Black Women MENTALITY
Saturday Apr 08, 2023
Saturday Apr 08, 2023
Continuing our conversation from episodes, EP. 121 Bad Things Happen To Good Girls and EP. 122 Redefining GOODT ENUFF, today we are talking about suffering.
As we discussed previously, we have certain thought errors that are holding us back from growing and thriving in our epic-ness. When we think that we're not being the “good girl" , problems happen, then we make it a problem that we have a problem.
Here’s the thing, life is 50/50, good and bad. No matter how “good” you are, you will still deal with pain, disappointment, embarrassment, grief, etc. It is inevitable.
So if pain is a normal part of the human experience and it's not a problem, then what is causing suffering? You’ll be surprised to know that suffering is optional. Tune in to learn more.

EP. 122 Redefining GOODT ENUFF
Monday Mar 27, 2023
Monday Mar 27, 2023
In this week's conversation, I'm expanding on the discussion started in last week's episode, EP. 121 Bad Things Happen To Good Girls, around the good girl syndrome.
Last week I shared that we think if we are living by the standard of the good girl, then the good girl doesn't have problems, and so we believe having a problem is a problem, but it's not.
The problem is that we think “this” shouldn't be happening because “this” doesn't happen to good girls. Not true. The good girl standard is the problem. And this standard is causing us to feel like we are not good enough.
These are thought errors that are holding us back from growing and thriving in our epic-ness. Let’s correct these thought errors by redefining good enough.
So grab a pen and paper then press play to tune into this interactive episode to learn how to redefine good enough.
And if you need additional support with releasing the “good girl syndrome”, get on the waitlist for the Deeply Rooted Group Coaching Program by visiting www.brigjohnson.com/group for more details.

EP. 121 Bad Things Happen To Good Girls
Monday Mar 20, 2023
Monday Mar 20, 2023
Have you ever asked yourself these questions:
- Am I a bad girlfriend if I reply to texts late?
- Am I a terrible friend for canceling plans?
- Am I a bad person if I don't have a certain amount of money?
What you're grappling with is the “good girl syndrome”.
From childhood, many women are socialized to please others, at the cost of their own well-being or needs. The world is screaming: If you’re good, nothing bad will happen to you. And so we adopt the idea that good girls don't upset people, good girls don't put herself first, good girls don't disappoint others. These are thought errors that are holding us back.
Listen in to learn how to shift these thoughts so that you can grow and thrive in your epic-ness.
And if you need additional support with releasing the “good girl syndrome”, get on the waitlist for the Deeply Rooted Group Coaching Program by visiting www.brigjohnson.com/group for more details.
