Panic is a sudden, uncontrollable fear or anxiety often causing wildly unthinking behavior. Sometimes it's operating under the surface with a constant gnawing in our stomach, or having us operate at 80 miles per hour and we don't even understand why.
Panic, stress, anxiety can all be our most formidable adversaries, but know that these are responses, not reality. Again, they are responses, not our reality. Loneliness is a subjective, unwelcome feeling of lack or loss of companionship. It happens when we have a mismatch between the quantity and quality of social relationships we have and those we want.
Black women suffer disproportionately from loneliness compared to non-minorities because we are bombarded with the pressure from others to value our strength over the need for self-care to preserve our social, economic, and/or professional status.
If we are expected to be strong 24/7 as Black women, when do we have time to be vulnerable? And who can we be vulnerable around? When you consider this, it’s no wonder why Black women suffer disproportionately from loneliness.
In this episode, I want to address this topic of the isolation of achievement so that we can begin to understand and overcome loneliness as high-achieving black women.

Most of us embrace comfort and resist anything that may lead to discomfort. This is because we can only embrace what we are not afraid of. Evolutionary wise, we were designed to seek comfort– to seek pleasure and to stay the same. That is our survival mechanism. It's in our DNA, but also, there are specific societal conditioning and cultural factors that reinforce our desire for comfort.
However, when we stay in our comfort zone, we can become unfulfilled and stagnant. So how do you embrace discomfort so that we can grow into our epic sh*t? Listen in to learn how.

Today, I want to talk about something that I think is important for us to understand and that is the difference between our objective, our tactics, and understanding the strategy behind them.
As high-achieving women, we are very clear about our objectives. We know exactly what it is that we want to achieve.
What I want to help us gain clarity around is the tactics that we choose to use to accomplish the objective. It is important for us to know that using tactics without a deeper understanding of the strategy behind them can lead to outcomes that we don't necessarily like. And a lot of times, not only do they not work, but they send us backward.

Apologizing to you for being you is like you have this, “ I'm sorry, I am the way I am” kind of vibe going on.
This may not be something that you do subconsciously or even to other people, but apologizing to you for being you is an internal discourse within you that is keeping you from where you want to be.
Even if you're working on improving yourself, you don't do that through apologizing for who you are, you do that by owning, “This is who I am, and this is where I am”. You don't argue with it, and resist it because you will never get to where you want to be by apologizing and resisting where you are.
Stop apologizing for reactions in your body to things that happen in this world, inside of you and around you. It is meant to be felt. It is meant to be experienced. You have a right to be here. You have a right to be yourself. And you have a right to your feelings. No apologies need it.
I want you to live unapologetically within the confines of your body. Listen in to learn how.

Continuing our conversation from EP. 121 Bad Things Happen To Good Girls, EP. 122 Redefining GOODT ENUFF, and EP. 123 Suffering and the GOODT Black Women MENTALITY, today we are talking about what to do when you don't get the results you want.
So we’ve been focusing on this good girl mentality and how we have labeled negative things that happen as a problem and identifying that problem as being us, which leads to a false sense that if we were somehow different, this wouldn't have happened. We forget that life is 50/50, good and bad things happen, and we can't control it, and so when the “negative thing” is happening, we think we did something wrong.
But what if you made a mistake? What if you did choose something, and now the consequences are putting you a couple of steps backward on your journey? What do you do after a f*%k up?
