EP. 77 What If?
Monday May 16, 2022
Monday May 16, 2022
Today we are going to play the what-if game.
As high achieving women being marginalized and growing up in the way that we have, we've been conditioned with all these negative thoughts in our brains that we have to fight against on a daily basis. Things like I'm wrong. I'm unworthy. I can't do this. Who am I to think of doing some epic sh*t?
What if those thoughts were wrong and the epic sh*t that we want to do really was a possibility? What if? Just because our brain is offering it to us doesn't mean that it is true.
Listen in to learn how to play the what-if game so that you can begin to transform these negative what-if thoughts into great motivators that can get you to dream bigger.
Also as a reminder, for the month of May 2022, I am offering an opportunity for some FREE coaching. We're gonna call it the Melanin Hour. EP. 76 Be Obnoxious!
Monday May 09, 2022
Monday May 09, 2022
Contrary to what you may have heard, in most cases, you get more benefit from sharing your desire than if you don't, and the most important person you need to share it with consistently is YOU.
I say we have to be obnoxious about ourselves, our goals/desires and what we want to do, and who we want to be when it comes to creating a new self-concept.
What do I mean by this? Listen in to learn more.

EP. 75 They Don’t Get Me!
Monday May 02, 2022
Monday May 02, 2022
Have you ever thought to yourself, “they don't get me”? Listen, if you're a high-achieving black woman, you’re probably talking about some things that some people don't get.
Here is the thing, secretly we want them to get us. This is a primal instinct to want to feel like we are understood and we belong. So when we're different, and people start making reference to it. There's this discomfort. And that's what I want to talk about.
As we recognize and honor that desire within ourselves to create our epic shit, not everyone will get us. And that is okay. What we tend to do in response to this is to think that we are wrong or go on a mission to prove to them that we are right. By doing this, we're using precious resources of our brain, trying to solve for people to get us. You are wasting the energy that is needed to actually solve the problem of us creating our epic shit.
Here is what you should do instead. Listen in to learn more.

EP. 74 Are You Binge-Watching Your Lower Brain?
Monday Apr 25, 2022
Monday Apr 25, 2022
Do you know how these series get us hooked and cause us to binge-watch? It's because they end each episode with a cliffhanger that leaves your brain wanting to know and figure out what will happen next. And so you keep watching one episode after another until you’ve binge-watched the series.
In this same way, our life can be a series of cliffhangers but these cliffhangers keep us living our past, watching what we did, didn't do, or could have done rather than creating new things. Essentially we are binge-watching our lower brain.
This is keeping us from creating epic shit be we get to decide how we interrupt this pattern. We can start creating, directing, and editing our life in the direction we want it to go. Listen in to learn how.

![EP. 73 Stop Playing CANDYMAN with Yourself](https://pbcdn1.podbean.com/imglogo/image-logo/9980508/Brig_-_The_Optimized_Podcast_Logo_aunue_300x300.jpg)

EP. 73 Stop Playing CANDYMAN with Yourself
Monday Apr 18, 2022
Monday Apr 18, 2022
If you are old enough to have played Candyman as a child you can remember entering a dimly lit room (usually the bathroom), standing in front of a mirror, and saying the name "Candyman" five times in a row. The expectation is that the monster will show up behind you. This experience caused you to intentionally put yourself in a scary situation. I remember being so scared that I would never make it to the count of five before flipping the lights back on.
Here is the thing, some of us are still playing Canyman with ourselves. We have painful experiences in our past that we constantly bring up when we want to do epic shit. I get it, playing Candyman with ourselves, intentionally scaring ourselves, prevents us from doing or creating the same thing again in the future but this is hindering our progress and growth.
Rather than viewing your past from a place of fear, you can view it from a place of empowerment. Tune in to learn how to make this shift.

EP. 72 The Value Of Coaching with Sherina Hill
Monday Apr 11, 2022
Monday Apr 11, 2022
I always say that safe people create epic shit and do it in a sustainable way but how do you develop an internal feeling of safety? You may wonder if or even believe that a haven of serenity exists inside of you, but it does. Queens, it does.
Our guest today, Sherina Hill, Life + Business Coach will share how her experience with coaching led to her feeling a deep internal self-generated safety rooted in gentleness. A profound experience that she will foster forever. You will hear her say that “this is the most important work you will ever do in your life because, in order to go beyond where you currently are, you have to be willing to go deeper and look at where you are making an agreement in your life to your littleness”. From there you can elevate to your next level and create more epic shit.
An internal sense of safety is a journey and is built from the recognition of your authentic power and trust that there is an unwavering well of support and guidance within you. It starts with honoring and appreciating your authentic self, committing to the deep work, and allowing the unfolding. Listen in to learn more.
And if you are ready to start your journey of internal safety, join my group coaching program. The waitlist can be found by visiting www.brigjohnson.com/group.

EP. 71 Are you ATTACHED to FORM?
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Attached to form means that you are attached to the way you think something is supposed to look. You have a singular idea of how you are supposed to achieve something.
For example, let's say your goal is to have an amazing relationship or even marriage. And so you are dating a wonderful person and that relationship does not work out. If you are attached to form then your grieving process of the loss of that relationship would be extreme because your attachment would be that this relationship was the one, the only one, through which you could have an amazing relationship/marriage. That is attachment to form.
The fact is that what you want is an amazing relationship/marriage and it could come through any relationship but you have decided that this failed relationship was your only opportunity. The problem with going through life attached to form is that we miss so many other opportunities in our lives and it leads to misery.
Queens, this is a scarcity mindset. It's a construct made up in our minds. There is no singular way to be happy, content, successful, or to create epic shit. You have the opportunity to release the attachment so that you can maximize the various opportunities that you are exposed to. Listen in to learn how.

EP. 69 Cyborg Thinking
Monday Mar 21, 2022
Monday Mar 21, 2022
Do you know what a Cyborg is?
Don't run to google, I'll tell you. According to dictionary.com, a Cyborg is a person whose physiological functioning is aided by or dependent upon a mechanical or electronic device. Often times when things happen to us in life we forget that we are human beings having a human experience and that includes us experiencing all the emotions that we feel and it's okay. Instead, we try to fix these emotions as if there is something wrong with them. Queens, we are not Cyborgs. Our physiological functioning is not aided by or dependent upon a mechanical or electronic device. We get to feel all the discomfort of our emotions and move forward anyway.
Listen in to learn how to do this. And if you are ready to manage your mind and uncover all of those balls and chains that are making our path overwhelming so that we can continue to do epic shit with ease. Then join my Deeply Rooted group coaching program. Applications are open now until March 31. Join by visiting https://www.brigjohnson.com/group.

EP. 68 What Happened to Your DREAMS?
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Monday Mar 14, 2022
As a coach of high-achieving women, I find that so many of us have stopped dreaming. Our ancestors sacrificed for us so that we have what they dreamed of and now that we are successful and comfortable we have stopped dreaming. There are many reasons for this that include us not waiting to fail or appear to be greedy.
As you know, my mission is to help high-achieving women become their best selves so that we can create our epic shit, whatever it is. It doesn't have to be epic to anybody but you, but I want you to assume your authority to create because that's what we are. We're creators, Queens. And we create with our dreams.
Let me show you how. All you need to do is take the next step. Join the waitlist for my group program, Deeply Rooted. The group is all about learning and understanding ourselves through self-awareness, self-mastery, a little bit of self-regulation and so much more. The doors are open now, visit https://www.brigjohnson.com/group to join.
